Mclaren Clockwork Submarines

U41 is the second boat with my new three plate hull design, the form is quite narrow which raises issues with the mainspring expansion radius. My normal single spring motors need at least a 3" beam to efficiently unwind which is why I designed the triple spring motor to power this latest sub. It shifts like a penguin on steroids and will dynamic dive even without flooding the ballast tank, to overcome this the fwd planes are set up a bit and it skims the surface like a flying fish. The large 30mm 4 blade prop smooths out the power and the diving ability of this boat is spectacular.
