25/04/2021. 1935-36. 670 Series Fleischmann GFN 11" Tinplate Clockwork Submarine. Repair and Restoration.
This very rare little sub has got to be one of the most challenging restorations I've ever done however, hand on heart I can say she's 99% original. The hull was shot to bits with a galaxy of pin holes, dents and even bigger holes! The motor was worse and I've had to apply for a dentists license because of the amount of teeth I put back in. A big thanks to Roger Todd (Japanese and German antique toy boats) for finding a reference for her. Now she's been brought back from the brink of disintegration her sailing days are over and she's retiring into my personal collection. To give this epic tale it's due I've added another page for the highlights.
